I was able to get close to this guy by climbing the forest tower at Napo Wildlife Centre. Remarkably he had just caught a bug by the top of the stairs and I was able to quickly snap this shot. During my trip I was really awed by the barbets. I loved the Scarlet-crowned, Gilded, Red-headed and Lemon-throated in particular.
