Thanks to Robert Moore and his wife for finding this great bird today. Never seen one in the outer pond at Iona before! I watched him till he fell asleep.
Great day of birding for me today. 5 Stilt Sandpipers and 8 Wilson's Phalaropes at Reifel along with 3 Solitary Sandpipers at the mansion at 96th St . We had at least sixteen shorebird species out there today with large numbers of Baird's. Gotta love fall shorebird migration. Finally some bird movement in Vancouver.

Almost all of the Brown Pelicans we saw (and we saw both White and Brown Pelicans) were in Breeding plumage. I just loved seeing their bright breeding colours and their funny neck rolls which of course I never did catch on camera! They are such unique interesting and beautiful birds. These were taken at the La Jolla Cliffs in San Diego. There were also 3 Brown Boobies here, many Breeding Brandt's and Double-crested Cormorants, nursing sea lions and Heermann's and Western Gulls.
