On the last day of the year I went birding to somewhere that offers me a lot of peace and happiness and relaxation. I came upon a pair of Ravens. I have always loved ravens they are mystical birds and I love the colours in their feathers and their intelligence. Happy New Year to you all my friends! Here is to a great year in 2015! Thanks for all your support, comments and friendship!

Found 50 of these on the youth birding trip I led today at Blackcomb Mountain! They are the cutest birds. We also found a Pygmy-Owl and 450 Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches among other great birds!

This is the reason we went to the Channel Islands and boy was it a trip of a lifetime we found this lifer there. This bird is not found anywhere else in the world except for this one Island (Santa Cruz). It is located in the Channel Islands and only accessed by boat from Ventura California. We saw Black-vented Shearwaters (Lifer!), Bottlenose dolphins and Gray Whales on the way there and on the island we saw several subspecies only found on Santa Cruz Island including the Allen's Hummingbird and Rufous-crowned Sparrow and Channel Island Fox and many Acorn Woodpeckers. We saw about 15 of these Island Scrub-Jays and many of them were vocal as they stole acorns from the Acorn woodpeckers. We located most of them on the Canyon trail on Nature Conservancy land accessed from Prisoners Island.

We travelled to Santa Cruz Island by boat to see the endemic Island Scrub-Jay! It is only found here and no where else in the world. We also saw the endemic Island Fox here and the Channel Island's Allen's Hummingbird subspecies and The Channel Islands Rufous-crowned Sparrow as well! I highly recommend a trip out here. On the way out we saw Bottlenosed dolphins, Parasitic and Pomarine Jaegers and Black-vented and Pink-footed Shearwaters, Clark's Grebes, Wandering Tattlers and Ruddy Turnstones just to name a few!
