The Satsop Nuclear Power Plant debacle. Plans for this beast started in 1968, approvals and government spending began in '73 and ground breaking in 1977..... By 1983 the plant was 75% finished and costs had sky rocketed while three mile island went China Syndrome. Now this place sits on a lovely hill abandoned. Developers are trying to make a business park out of it. the massive parking lot is now a place to train big rig drivers and it's been a location for Hunger Games and one of the Transformer movies..... Billions of dollars went to these and not a puff of smoke was ever emitted.....

I've found yet more evidence that Men In Black was a documentary. This Cylon Raider is disguised as a Nuclear Reactor Pump Station on the acreage of 'an abandoned nuclear facility' at Satsop. Armed guards drive in circles around the place making certain that no one attempts to fly off with it which is good since we've all seen how deadly they are against the Viper Mark Fours.....
Tonia and I were questioned within minutes of our arrival and the guy kept circling back. I'll post a pseudo documentary shot shortly so you can see these things. Haven't found a height on them yet, still looking. :-)

As promised, a more documentary style shot of WNP-5, the last built and least finished of the 500 foot tall Nuclear Pressurized Water Reactors, it remains today atop a beautiful hill a shell (literally) of what it was meant to be. From the freeway these two giants seem to be hulking monsters, up close they are a fascinating story and physical reminder of a colossal waste of money.
The other two shots in comments for those who are wondering what the heck they are looking at. :-)

This is the oft shot one-room Highland Schoolhouse, which sits on a windy hilltop along Highway 2 between Waterville and Coulee City. I'm amazed at what great shape the bones are in considering the abuse it's been taking.
