A super close portrait of a Black-and-white Warbler. He was popping low on some branches and found the stump that I was hoping he would land on. Thanks Mr.BW for your cooperation! One of the nicer portraits I have ever had with one of most commonly photographed warbler species.

One of my weird goals is to get a high quality photograph of each of the Pennsylvania warblers. The Louisiana Waterthrush was a difficult bird for me last year and I wanted to get this relatively easy Warbler early in the season so it didn't nag me. A friend, who knew my objective helped me locate the bird in a reliable spot and after watching it's behavior one day, I went back the next morning to hopefully get my shot. Fortunately, he was very cooperative and very tolerant of my presence. I waited by the stream and he found a favorite snag and actually allowed me to within 10-15 feet. Being that close to a Warbler is a real thrill for me and I was delighted watching him sing and being able to document this close encounter.
Thanks Frank Dickman for the assist.

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (foy) from yesterday. This is such a great time of year to photograph as leaves are not on trees and buds are starting to pop, giving little hints of color to the branches (easier to find the birds too!)

Local Swamp Sparrow that gave me a quick look after spending most of the time in thick scrub.
