Caleb knew he’d waited too long to admit his heart to her. He could only pray that he wasn’t too late. Catalina was selected as the new intern assistant for the New York Times publisher; leaving this life behind. Moving on to the Big Apple…without him. He ran faster as he heard the dreaded words coming from the Conductor, “All abroad!!” Caleb knew it was now or never, “Catalina! S'il vous plaît, Catalina!!”
Catalina’s heart raced “Caleb?” Hurrying to the platform screen doors, there he stood, half out of breath, yet strong and debonaire as ever, “Caleb what are you doing here? Is something the matter?” Caleb shook his head, slightly smiling as his eyes roamed her once and locked to her eyes. She quickly followed his gaze, half chuckling, “Okay silly man, what, do you find me pretty or something? Because the way you are staring…” Caleb responds “No.” Confused she looks cross, only to quickly smile and asked, “Hahaha, you are going to finally admit that you want to be with me forever!” Caleb stated, “No.” Catalina’s eyes furrowed, “Well I suppose you wouldn’t be disappointed if I just walked away.” Caleb shook his head again. Catalina had heard enough, “Listen Caleb, the train is ready to depart, I need to leave.” As she turned to walk away, he grabbed her arm, “You’re not pretty, you’re beautiful. I don’t want to be with you forever, I NEED to be with you forever and I wouldn’t be disappointed if you walked away, I would die.” Catalina’s lips parted, gasping in disbelief; finally her true love professes the words she longed to hear.
