While on a photo trip this fall, I spent a whole afternoon trying to find a good location for sunset photos. Late in the day, I was getting desperate when I spotted this row of dead trees from 2 miles distant. Driving in that direction, I soon realized that these trees were near the road. It was in a marshy area, so I decided to do my sunset photos here.

I know no one else does this, but sometimes I get so focused on the sunset that I forget to look behind myself. This was one of those situations where I was waiting for the after sunset colors to develop and I happened to look behind me. The pink glow had started in the eastern sky behind this row of trees. I literally picked up my tripod with camera and ran in that direction about 100 yards. Not that easy when you're 62 running along a rutted trail covered with grass. I made it without face planting.

I realize that this b&w photo has some issues, but I liked the overall mood and the composition well enough to add it to my Flickr page.

This photo was 3 horizontal photos stitched in Lightroom 6.

As always, your views, faves and comments are greatly appreciated !!

A shot of the tree in my back yard. Thought I'd catch it before the ....SNOW! Falls not done yet!
Forecast is for 3-7 inches of snow for the area. I'll try to get a shot of the tree tomorrow.

This is only the 2nd dragonfly i've come across since using the mpe65 lens.
It's also the first one that has stayed still longer than a few seconds after getting this close, so I grabbed the opportunity and took quite a few photos.
It's not too often we get mornings cool enough to stop these things in their tracks (being more of a summer insect)... so I dont get the chance to photograph them this close as much as i'd like.

This was the best composition I could come up with one night in Joshua Tree. The boulder formations around this popular arch makes it somewhat difficult to get a good composition. I have seen some fantastic shots of "Arch-ie", that's my nickname for it since the actual name is Arch-Rock, we couldn't very well call it Arch-Arch could we? That would just sound too weird. So I sat there for sometime scratching my head.... I had downloaded several other photographers photos onto my iPhone so that I could compare the scene with they're compositions. One, so that I don't take the same shot as someone else and Two, so that I can figure out the best POVs. I could only match up 2 of the 8 photos given the tight proximity to the other formations surrounding it, and think I had my tripod twisted into 20 different positions and still couldn't match up the compositions, you would have to either have some excellent climbing skills or be one very determined photographer. So my hats off to the flickr users out there that have posted awesome POV's of this spot, you guys ROCK!!! :)

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great weekend everyone :)
