A bitter-cold day out trekking through the Beltucky Snowfield. The wind created a hurricane of ice particles that felt like being sand-blasted in my eyeballs. Should have worn goggles instead of sun glasses. This spot was a bit out of the wind and felt warm on the front and frozen on the back, not unlike a microwaved burrito.

Taken with a cheap $100 action camera while out exploring. The underwater dive housing degraded the image a tiny bit, but overall I'm happy with the results. It's fun using a camera that is effectively disposable compared to my main Sony a6300 camera kit. It also fits in spaces where larger cameras can't.
Also, if anyone is interested in some lighthearted comedy, I built a website where I am hosting my new book for anyone to read for free. No ads or malware, just free for the sake of being nice. The book is about sponge monsters that grow in size as they absorb liquids. It's like the goofy chaos of Gremlins crossed with the absurdity of the Stay Puft marshmallow man.

I was on a snow-day hike in the forest and decided to go bushwhacking off the trail. I was first setting up for a shot to my left of a nice stream, but the snow started coming down in a burst under an isolated cloud. The sun shined through the trees right as the wind picked up and created this foggy-looking scene of snow flakes and ice particles. I turned to my right and got this image, which thankfully had a nice composition as well. Only lasted a few seconds and I never got the same combination of light and snow for the several more hours I waited around.
This was taken with an iPhone 4s. Single exposure and converted to B&W, with a slight color toning to the highlights and shadows.

Crater Lake was once a full mountain by the name of Mount Mazama, which eventually collapsed into itself forming the lake we now know. The natives in this area were living here over 7,000 years ago, apparently . They witnessed the event and the legend has carried all the way to this day. Could you imagine what it is like to witness a mountain fall into the Earth? Especially with no scientific explanation at all? It would easily top the list of intense spiritual events of all human history.

When I visit an area for the first time, I often scout out every inch of it to find potential shots. Within the restriction of not damaging delicate terrain and vegetation of course.
This tree was my favorite tree in the whole area, which also had some sort of a separated view from the other trees. This one evening, I put all of my chips on sticking it out in this spot hoping the sun would shine through the thick clouds, and it paid off.
