I had no idea this father was coming down the street when I wanted to take my annual photo of our vibrant red Japanese maple. When I saw the red stroller, I was reminded of one of my favourite poets, William Carlos Williams, and his brilliant poem:
so much depends
upon
a red wheel
barrow
glazed with rain
water
beside the white
chickens

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts…. I haven't visited this very special home of my soul for a few years because of Doug's illness. So, Rebecca, my older daughter, invited me to come up with her and spend a few days over our national holiday. We've eaten well, slept well and I completely love it here.

I use this on my website and blog: www.ellynpeirson.com and I hope to be able to visit more regularly, given that my husband is in a long term care home about an hour from here.
