An automated and active lighthouse the Chicago Harbor Light has been in operation since 1893. It is both on National Historical Regestry and designated Chicago Landmark.

It is really cool to look down upon the 8th tallest building in Chicago. At 66 stories, 900 North Michigan Ave is the 26th tallest building in the US and 86th tallest building in the world. The tower is mostly residences with The Four Seasons Hotel occupying floors 32 - 46 and a parking garage and retail shops on the lower floors which includes Bloomingdales. Interestingly when we first arrived there was a wedding shoot going on at the mid level platform.

While in route to the Sears Tower (it was still called the Sears Tower then) we noticed this frayed and twisted American Flag above us. It is only one of the few times I've seen an American Flag in this shape, even more surprising, on the streets of Downtown Chicago.

From The Hancock Tower
Having been to both the Sears Tower observation deck and the Hancock Tower observation deck, the Hancock Tower, in my opinion, has the best view of the two.
The Hancock Tower is the fourth tallest building in Chicago standing at 1,127 ft. (344 m) and is 100 stories tall. At the time of it's completion in 1970 "Big John" was the tallest building in the world outside New York City and is currently the sixth tallest building in the United States. The express elevator to the 94th floor observation deck is the fastest elevator in the western hemisphere, taking only 39 seconds from the ground level. Because of the unique external design, the structure would stand another 1000 + years if the human race were to suddenly disappear tomorrow.
