Lower Falls
Old Man's Cave
Hocking Hills State Park
Ohio

When myself and good friend Adam Thompson - The Serialphotog visited Old Man's Cave in Ohio's Hocking Hills State Park the Lower Falls was kicking and so was the light! It really is one of Ohio's most beautiful falls and honestly I could just shoot it for hours!

West Milton Cascades
West Milton
Ohio

Over the years a waterfall that I never tire of shooting is the beautiful West Milton Cascades north of Dayton, Ohio! Time and time again I walk away with photographs of this waterfall that I really like. A couple weeks ago when I was joined by my good friend Michael McHenry we were in for a treat! The falls was flowing perfectly and we couldn't have asked for better light!

Hidden Falls
Hocking Hills State Park
Ohio

Located in Central Ohio, myself and good friend Adam Thompson met up with good friend Jeff Burcher for a day of exploration. While waiting for Jeff, who was waiting for us in a different lot, Adam and I headed down to Cedar Falls thinking Jeff would see my car and join us. After shooting the main falls and meeting this nice fella running a workshop who offered any assistance if we needed it, Adam and I headed over to Hidden Falls. I immediately noticed we had a sunburst opportunity over the falls. This was the first time I had ever attempted to shoot a sunburst and a waterfall. The real challenge here is making the darks and the lights work together to make a tonally appealing image. I am mostly satisfied with this this version of the photo, but there is something about the waterfall itself I wish I could nail down. Definitely a learning experience and one that I do not think I am finished with. I have a feeling another version of this photo will make an appearance later in the year when I have some time to work with it again, but for now I thought I would share the beautiful scene Adam and I got to enjoy while sadly Jeff waited for us in another lot. A short time later we would find each other travelling between the different lots we were parked in. Hocking Hills needs cell service!

Roebling Suspension Bridge
Ohio River
Skystar Wheel
Covington Kentucky arcross the river
Cincinnati, Ohio before the river
From the Carew Tower Observation Deck

Earlier this year I finally took the time to take some shots of the Skywheel on the Cincinnati Riverfront! This was the first time I had attempted to shoot it and I was hoping to combine it with a favorite pastime, photographing sunset. I have been wanting to return to the Carew Tower Observation Deck to shoot sunset for years. Well, sunset bombed out. Undeterred by a stiff southerly wind thought I'd try my hand out at the Skywheel. I expected it to be a challenge to photograph, and it was. I tried several different settings to see what effects I would get out of the ferris wheel. Though most of my shots were failures I did have one I really liked come out. I just love the pattern of the light and the Roebling Suspension Bridge close by.

Sunset
Bee Rock Recreation Area
Rockcastle River
Pulaski County
Daniel Boone National Forest
Kentucky

A couple months ago when my good friend Leo Combs and I were running around Laurel County, Kentucky chasing waterfalls we headed over to Pulaski County to photograph Bear Creek Falls. Unfortunately the lake levels were up and the falls was only 3 ft tall. When lake levels are down it's about 20 ft tall. So we made a change of plan and headed up to Bee Rock. Though I had been to the Bee Rock Campground I had never been up to the overlook. We decided to drive in from above and make the one mile hike. Goodness, were we glad we did! Though the clouds had dissipated dramatically from the time it took to drive and hike there, we still enjoyed a lovely sunset and a beautiful view looking down the Rockcastle River!
