Built by Virginians William and Mary Gibson beginning back to 1857 but mostly seen as after its 1870 remodeling the Gibson house features Southern plantation house appearance, with a Greek Revival design with Doric columns and a balcony. It was owned by the family until 1963, after which it was abandoned and was known as a local haunted house. In 1976 the Yolo County Historical Society purchased the house. It is now a county museum.
