Woodland is a moderately sized city near Sacramento and Davis. Established in 1851, it thrived with after it became the Yolo County Seat and connected by the railroads, gaining its wealth as a junction for the rich farmland of the surrounding areas. In the 1950s Woodland was said to have more millionaires per capita than any other California city. Woodland remains primarily agricultural in nature and retains a small-town feel, and has a slightly cold relationship with neighboring liberal Davis (see
