The fish-eating crocodile is native to the Indian subcontinent. With its long, thin jaws it catches only fish. Gharials can grow up to 6.25 m in length. The gharials are critically endangered, with perhaps 300 breeding individuals left in the wild, a victim of overhunting, poaching, habitat loss and fragmentation, and toxins in the rivers.
