That was what my vacation was all about: waiting for the weather to change (from pounding rain and storm to something surviveable), waiting for the sun (2 days out of 7), and eventually waiting for my long exposures. The good thing about the sea is that even if the weather is bad, a long exposure really can make a bland scene look interesting :) // Also using: Formatt Hitech 3 stop ND and 0.9 grad filter.

For people who have trouble getting out of bed in time, it’s great to live in valley. The surrounding hills give me a few extra minutes to get where I need to go :) Used: Formatt Hitech 16 stop ND filter.

Here’s another photo of a recent sunrise. Thanks to Formatt-Hitech ND and Grad filters the river is nice and flat and without any ripples. Wonderful serene morning with gorgeous colors.

When going to photograph the stars, always consult the moon phase. We didn’t, which made for almost invisible stars, but that big light in the sky illuminated the landscape which made up for being out so late.

One reason I find Instagram useful: if you follow local photographers, you find places in your immediate area you didn't know about. Like the Burg Kriebstein (Castle Kriebstein). Just one hour by car from where I live and with the man-made rapids perfect for a long exposure.

Also used: Formatt Hitech circular polarizer and 8 stop Firecrest ND filter.
