The Wrigley Building lining up next to Trump Tower from Pioneer Square.

View On Black

Both of these buildings are Chicago landmarks. I love the contrast in building construction and architecture. Wrigley was built in 1920 - and Trump tower was built 2009, nearly 90 years later. Trump Tower is 98 stories tall, and Wrigley at 30 stories (or 21 if you count the smaller tower).

There is a huge amount of really ornate and interesting woodwork in the Iowa State Capitol. Before we went on this photowalk, I told myself I was only going to focus on detail shots... I should have just brought my macro lens, maybe then I would have followed through with this plan. I ended up shooting tons of wide angle images, this was one of the few "details" I took a photo of.

Earlier this year I had the unique opportunity to attend a private party at the D-Day Museum in New Orleans.

At first, you might wonder what the heck the D-Day Museum is doing in NOLA. Once you learn that the famous Landing Craft Vehicles and Personnel (LCVP) or "Higgins Boat" were invented and manufactured in New Orleans, it all starts to make sense.
The layout of this museum includes a "Pacific Theater" and "European Theater" of operations. Both have excellent examples of the equipment, weapons and flags from each country's military.

The museum is worth visiting if you are history buff or just want to get out of the heat of the day for a couple hours. The artifacts in this place are amazing!

Awesome on black

This is the front end of a '52 Chevy that was showing at this year's Corvette Show. This car is absolutely mint, and perfectly restored by Karl Moyer. It did very well at the local Good Guy's show.

I love the grille work, the chrome, and the awesome black paint job.
