Bosnia and Herzegovina often known informally as Bosnia, is a country in Southeast Europe, located within the Balkans. Sarajevo is the capital and largest city. Bosnia is not entirely a landlocked country as it may appear on a map – to the south it has a narrow coast on the Adriatic Sea long and surrounds the town of Neum. Many people still associate the country with the break-up of Yugoslavia in the heartbreaking civil war of the 1990's. The scars from that time are all still visible. But today's tourist are likely to remember the country for its friendly, modest and warm people. The country has turned into an exciting and versatile travel destination, with beautiful mountains, numerous medieval castle ruins, seven major rivers, impressive waterfalls. Overall, nearly 50% of Bosnia is forested. A country where Eastern and Western civilizations have met over the centuries. Today integration into the European Union is one of the main political objectives of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The local currency is the Bosnian mark. The euro is also accepted. Islam is the majority faith in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also Orthodox Christianity, and Roman Catholicism are all present. The wild and unspoilt nature makes it an ideal place for both adventurers and nature lovers. Mostar is the largest city in Hercegovina, with a small but thoroughly enchanting old town centre. Mostar has been most famous for this beautiful historic Ottoman-style Stari Most bridge, which spanned the Neretva river in what is considered the historic center of the city.

Mostar is situated on the Neretva River. Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who in the medieval times guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva. The Old Bridge, built by the Ottomans (Turkish tribes) in the 16th century, is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most visited landmarks. The bridge was destroyed during the Bosnian War. The European Union has spent more than $ 15 million on restoration. The restoration was finished in 2004. In 2005, UNESCO inscribed the Old Bridge and its closest vicinity onto the World Heritage List. For the last 450 years, Mostar has been home to the Old Bridge Jump, where people jump off the city’s Stari Most bridge, hurling through the air for a few seconds before hitting the freezing water below. The traditional jump is seen as a right of passage for Bosnian men in particular: “Locals say a man will be a complete life failure if he doesn’t take the plunge — he can forget about a job and a girlfriend.”

In totaal is bijna 50% van Bosnië bebost. Een land waar oosterse en westerse beschavingen elkaar door de eeuwen heen hebben ontmoet. Tegenwoordig is integratie in de Europese Unie een van de belangrijkste politieke doelstellingen van Bosnië en Herzegovina. Mostar ligt aan de rivier de Neretva. Mostar is vernoemd naar de brugwachters mostari die in de middeleeuwen de Stari Most oude brug over de Neretva bewaakten. De oude-brug, gebouwd door de Ottomanen Turkse stammen in de 16e eeuw, is één van de meest bezochte bezienswaardigheden van Bosnië en Herzegovina. De brug is tijdens de Bosnische oorlog verwoest. De Europese Unie heeft meer dan 15 miljoen dollar uitgegeven aan restauratie. De restauratie is in 2004 voltooid. In 2005 heeft de UNESCO de Oude Brug en de dichtstbijzijnde omgeving op de Werelderfgoedlijst gezet. De afgelopen 450 jaar was Mostar de thuisbasis van de Old Bridge Jump, waar mensen van de Stari Most-brug van de stad springen en een paar seconden door de lucht slingeren voordat ze het ijskoude water raken. De traditionele sprong wordt gezien als een doorgangsrecht voor met name Bosnische mannen: "De lokale bevolking zegt dat een man een complete mislukking in zijn leven zal zijn als hij de sprong niet waagt - hij kan een baan en een vriendin vergeten."

This is not one of the acrobatic scenes from the Matrix trilogy or any other action film. It's a scene from a sepak takraw match, a particularly popular sport in Southeast Asia. Essentially a net game played with feet, sepak takraw is a hybrid of football soccer and volleyball with a bit of gymnastics and kung fu thrown in. Countless variations of the game are played throughout the region, but the basic objective of each is to keep the hollow, grapefruit-sized ball from touching the ground by keeping it airborne with the feet, knees, head, shoulders, elbows - or almost every part of the body, except the hands. Sepak takraw or kick volleyball is a sport native to Southeast Asia, resembling volleyball, except that it uses a rattan ball and only allows players to use their feet, knee, chest and head to touch the ball. It is a popular sport in Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines and Indonesia. In Lao the call it twine and kick while in Thailand it is called takraw. Similar games include footbag net, footvolley, football tennis, Bossaball, jianzi and sipa. Sepak is the Malay word for kick Takraw is the Thai word for the hand-woven ball originally used in the game. So the game is essentially kick ball.

Amateurs in Old Bagan - Myanmar play a fun game of sepak takaraw on the street. In Myanmar sepak takraw is known as Chin Lone, and is considered more of an art as there is often no opposing team, and the point is to keep the ball aloft gracefully and interestingly.

Sepak takraw is een traditionele balsport uit Zuidoost-Azië. In Myanmar wordt het Chin Lone genoemd. Sepak Takraw wordt beschreven als voetbal-volleybal op een badmintonveld. In tegenstelling tot volleybal mag je bij deze sport de bal niet met je handen aanraken maar alleen met je hoofd, schouder, knie en voet. Het net hangt op ongeveer anderhalve meter hoogte en de deelnemers kunnen scoren door de bal op het veld van de tegenstander te laten stuiteren. In tegenstelling tot volleybal wordt Sepak Takraw met slechts drie spelers per team gespeeld. Een team van drie spelers wordt “Regu” genoemd. De naam sepak takraw komt van: “sepak” is “schop” in het Maleis en “takraw” betekent “gevlochten bal” in het Thais. Sepak takraw wordt erkend als officiële sporttak op verschillende Aziatische spelen. Er wordt gespeeld met een rotan bal van ca. 170 gram die voorzien is van 12 gaten. Sinds Sepak Takraw in juni 1992 door Indonesische topsporters werd gedemonstreerd op het internationaal festival sportculturen uit de hele wereld te Bonn, heeft de sport zeer snel aan populariteit gewonnen. Over doelpunten met een omhaal wordt nog vaak gesproken. Balletje hooghouden is een favoriete oefening van voetballers. Meestal wordt dit dan ook gebruikt om hun balvaardigheid te tonen. Vooral de technische spelers zijn hier goed in. In ZuidOost Azië wordt al eeuwen een spel gespeeld waar baltechniek en acrobatiek worden gecombineerd.

The Huai Mae Khamin Waterfall is one of the most beautiful places in Kanchanaburi. Huai Mae Khamin has been a popular destination for locals, particularly during the rainy season. One of the attractions is the tall limestone walls and dense forest that surround the area. The Huai Mae Khamin Waterfall is a moderate-sized limestone waterfall. It has seven levels. Visitors here feel at peace while watching the clear water fall down the steps of each level. Because this is a limestone waterfall, the area surrounding it is not slippery and doesn’t support algae. The most stunning level is the fourth, called Chat Chat Kaco. The length from the ground to the top most level is about 2.2 kilometers, so it would be a challenge for those who would want to climb up from the ground to the top of this waterfall. It would take about 3 hours for this journey. However, the beginning point of the waterfall is not from the first level, but the fourth one, which is from the park. In the area of the park, not so far from the waterfall, there is a tent area for visitors to take some rest. This area is also a good place to see view of Srinakarin Dam.

The Huai Mae Khamin Waterfall, in the mountainous Khuan Si Nakharin National Park, is located in Amphone Sai Yok and Amphoe Thong Pha Phum in the province of Kanchanaburi - Thailand. The waterfall itself is located near the National Park Office. One of the attractions is the tall limestone walls and dense forest that surround the area. The water cascades over an ochre-stained limestone rock face, earning the falls the Thai name “Huai Khamin” or “Turmeric Stream”. The little-visited falls have formed deep pools that are ideal for swimming. Muslim women are not afraid to jump from the falls into the cool refreshing water. her hijab is scary wrong after her jump. Better have a hijab swim suit when jumping. The surroundings are very peaceful with dense jungles and occasional sightings of elephants and other wildlife.

De schittrende natuur van Huay Mae Khamin. Alleen de rit er naar toe is al een verademing. Prachtige natuur en schitterende uitzichten over het Srinakarin stuwmeer. Bij de watervallen aangekomen viel het ons meteen op dat er bjna geen buitenlandse toeristen waren. Het merendeel van de bezoekers was van Thaise afkomst en sloeg er hun tentje op. Ook is er de mogelijkheid om een tentje te huren. De Huay Mae Khamin waterval is gelegen in diepe bossen van van het Khuan Si Nakharin National Park. De waterval is net zo mooi als Erawan maar veel rustiger. Het is genieten op deze plek. Het water is zo heerlijk om in te zwemmen. De zeven trappen waterval wordt beschouwd als één van de mooiste waterval van Thailand. De foto van deze waterval is ook vaak te verkrijgen als fotobehang. Stromend van de kalkstenen gebergte valt haar wateren in zeven verdiepingen langs een route van ongeveer 2 kilometer. De wandeling naar de top van waterval duurt 3 uur. Het begin punt van de wandeling is bij verdieping vier van de waterval bij de ingang van het park.

Stunning beauty of Erawan waterfall make any visitor want to come and see the wonderful nature and beauty of the Erawan National Park. Erawan waterfall is considered the most beautiful waterfall in Thailand, it is derived from Monglai stream and dumps the hill at the height of 2,000 m and flows into Khwae Yai River. Famed for its impressive seven-tiered waterfall, Erawan National Park is a popular weekend spot for locals. Walking to the first three tiers is easy, but after that good walking shoes and some endurance are needed to complete the 1.5km hike. Bring a bathing costume as you will appreciate the cool water after reaching the top. Levels 2 and 4 are impressive, but be wary of monkeys who may snatch belongings while you're taking a dip. The wide pool of bright emerald water is fabulous for swimming. At each tier, you’ll catch a glimpse of the fish. Minnows like to hang around swimmers and pick at their dead skin; some might find them unnerving while others will enjoy the free fish spa. Erawan waterfall has a large limestone cave called Wang Badan located in the west of the park. There are many stalagmites and stalactites colorful inside the cave. Around 80% of Erawan is forest, and many of the park's various trees can be seen along three nature trails, which range from 1 km to 2 km. Bird-watchers try to spy hornbills, woodpeckers and parakeets from the camping areas and observation trails. Tigers, elephants, cobras and gibbons also call the park home.

This waterfall is located in the lush forests of the Erawan National Park. To visit this waterfall, visitors must go through a tortuous path with very attractive scenery. Just over a kilometre at the fourth tier, features a splendid swimming hole surrounded by boulders suitable for lounging. The highlight here is a natural water slide that shoots you several metres down smooth stone into water that strikes a darker shade of emerald thanks to overhanging trees. Het twaalfde nationaal park van Thailand heet het Erawan National Park en herbergt hoge bergen en valleien De hoge bergen bieden het achtergelegen landschap bescherming tegen de oostelijke moesson. 80% van het park is bedekt met dichte bebossing. In het gebied leven veel vogels, reptielen, tijgers en olifanten. De belangrijkste en mooiste attractie van het Erawan National Park zijn de Erawan watervallen. Deze watervallen bestaan uit zeven trappen. De verschillende trappen zijn te bereiken via een avontuurlijk pad door de jungle. Onderaan iedere waterval is een kristalheldere poel waar je met het blote oog vissen ziet zwemmen en waar je een verfrissende duik kunt nemen. Middenin een dichtbegroeide, groene jungle, zagen we over de rand van verschillende rotsblokken helderblauw water naar beneden stromen. Het water komt uit in verschillende terrassen, waar je de bladeren op de bodem ziet liggen en de scholen vissen voorbij ziet zwemmen. Een java-aap keek vanaf een afstandje mee vanuit een boom. Yup, dit is het paradijs! De hoogste waterval bevindt zich na een hike van ongeveer 1,5 kilometer; wat een klim is van zo'n 1.5 uur. Het begin van het pad is goed aangelegd daarna eindigt het pad en wordt de klim over bruggetjes, rotsen, kleine watervallen en trappetjes steeds uitdagender. Trek dus goede wandelschoenen aan. Het wordt ook steeds mooier. We kwamen langs watervallen met natuurlijke glijbanen, waar Samantha en Biejee met alle plezier vanaf gleden. Ook waren er watervallen met schitterende, witte kalkafzettinggen tegen de rotsen en bomen, waardoor het water een melkachtige, blauwwitte gloed kreeg.
