Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia. In the past, Bratislava was one the most important economic and administrative center of Kingdom of Hungary. Several kings were coronated here what is still markable in the architecture and atmosphere of today's city. Bratislava is the only one European capital city, which borders with two other countries - Hungary and Austria. Bratislava lies on both banks of the river Danube in southwestern Slovakia. Filled with historical monuments and relics dating back to the early Stone Age, Bratislava is both old and new. It has survived the Celts, the Romans, the Kingdom of Hungary, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Soviet domination. Bratislava is also one of the
youngest capital in Europe. Of a total population of 450,000, some 60,000 are students at three universities. This – and the diversity of people – gives the city vibrancy and dynamism. You can feel it in the extraordinary number of cafes, bars and clubs in the narrow streets, cellars and courtyards of the mostly-pedestrianized Old Town.
The Nový Most is the New bridge over the Danube which connects the old town with another Bratislava’s borough – Petržalka. Bratislava is probably the only city in the world, where you can have a lunch in a UFO and a fantastic view. The UFO Restaurant is located on the pillars of the Bratislava New bridge. Bratislava is de hoofdstad van Slowakije, een republiek gelegen in Centraal-Europa. Bratislava kreeg de rol van belangrijkste stad nadat de republiek Slowakije ontstond uit het uiteenvallen van Tsjechoslowakije. Bratislava is de grootste stad van het land en ligt in het westen, op slechts een uurtje rijden van de Oostenrijkse hoofdstad Wenen. Dankzij de rijke historie die Bratislava kent zijn er redelijk wat bouwwerken in uitstekende conditie terug te vinden in en rondom het historisch centrum. Dankzij de vrij compacte afmetingen van de binnenstad is Bratislava een hele leuke bestemming voor een kortere stedentrip. Als we de naam
Nový Most vertalen, hebben we het over de nieuwe brug over de Donau. Op het hoogste punt van de brug wat gevormd is als een
UFO is per lift een restaurant te vinden, waar je meteen beloond wordt met een spectaculair uitzicht over de oever en de betonnen wijk Petržalka.
