Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea with a lenght of 270 km. This is an island where coastal drives thrill, prehistory puzzles, and sheep
four million of them rule the roads. Sardinia captivates with its wild interior, dazzling beaches and endearing eccentricities. The island is deceptive – it looks small on paper, but unravel it and it is huge. The highest peak on the island extends to almost 2000 meters. A lovely and peaceful island without extravagance. We ride to the area of
Nebida e Masua, to admire one of the most beautiful and
unexpected coastal sceneries of Sardinia Island. The coast of Mountain Nai, is dominated by Sugar Loaf, stack of white limestone, 133 m in height, and some famous cliffs of Capri. There are extraordinary mining landscapes, leading you to the beautiful Cala Domestica, in the territory of Buggerru.
The west coast of Iglesiente on Sardina is between Masua and Buggerru and is perhaps the most unknown part of Sardinia. It is a series of rock formations, fjords and high cliffs. Pan di Zucchero is a particularly interesting surfacing rock: detached from the Nai mountain, the large crag is 133 meters high and has two natural arches, one of which is navigable with a small boat through a tunnel of evocative sensations.
Het eiland
Sardinië ligt pal ten zuiden van het eiland Corsica, ten westen van de Laars van Italië. Na Sicilië het grootste eiland in de Middellandse Zee. Maar liefst een lengte van 270 kilometers. Sardinië is geen Italië. De bewoners zijn rustiger én gereserveerder, het landschap is soms bijna Afrikaans, en ik zie geen extravagantie, zelfs niet in de meest luxe resorts. Een heerlijk en rustig eiland. Prachtige stranden en ruige bergen. De westkust van Iglesiente ligt tussen Masua en Buggerru en is misschien wel het mooiste onbekende stuk van Sardinië. Het is een aaneenschakeling van rotsformaties, fjorden en
hoge kliffen. Een aantal zijn makkelijk te bereiken met de auto. Voor sommige moet een flinke wandeling worden gemaakt. De
Pan di Zucchero rijst op uit de zee bij het strand van
Masua. De rots is 133 meter hoog. Dit wandelpad kan helemaal gevolgd worden tot aan Buggerru.
