The Curtiss Type FL flying boat was a quick design, mating together the hull, tail section and engine from the Curtiss Type F flying boat and the characteristic triplane wing of the Curtiss Type L-1. Remained the only example of this type, not succesfull. Early 1917.

There is an MG ring in the backseat of this Curtiss JN-4 Jenny, which according to the history of Curtiss written by Peter M. Bowers identifies the version as a JN-4HG gunnery trainer.

A post-war Thomas-Morse S 4C, fitted with a rotary Le Rhône engine 90 hp. In the surplus market in the USA after the war considerable number of this biplane scout trainer came available. This one was picked up by Walter Addems, who was a pioneering aviator in the USA.

The picture collection of Walter Addams is held in the San Diego Aviation and Space Museum. Apparently this picture of his former plane was not in his personal files.

Formal exercises which marked the commisioning of the three naval seaplanes which are to attempt the ocean flight. Commander J.T. Towers, commander of the expedition (left) is saluting Captain Powers Symington, chief of the staff for 3rd Naval district.'

An unidentified USA biplane, most likely from the 1920's. Characteristic features are the four wheel undercarriage with short skids and a lot of tubes connecting the undercarriage to the fuselage. A two-bay wing with (visible) balanced aileron on the upper wing. Square hole in the upper wing for visibility above.
On the cowling is the abbrevation (?) Etin written in curly lettters.
