Happy 150th Transcontinental Railroad.
The first Big Boy led train in 60 years passes the Laramie depot where tens of thousands welcome it home. Ironically, 151 years earlier, May 4, 1868 saw the very first train arrive in Laramie on the under construction Transcontinental Railroad.
Big Boy is home again. The earth here still covered in feet of cinders from these very locomotives work over 60 years ago. UP 4014 leads UP 844 on the lower summit Harriman Line over Sherman Hill.
