Even early on a foggy morning there were people on the esplanade of the Trocadero. Against the backlit fog they seemed like visitors from another time.

THIS PROJECT: The Long Walk
October 5, 2007. Foggy morning. I left my apartment at the Arc de Triomphe, and headed to Trocadero to shoot the Tower in the fog. Then I decided to walk some more. I strolled through Passy, crossed the river at Radio France, walked along a market street in the 15e, and arrived Parc André Citroen. The Long Walk. finished with a Metro ride to the Madeleine.

I walked down from the esplanade and followed the curve of the wing of the Palais de Chaillot that houses the Musee de l'Homme. Before I left the park I turned back toward the Tower and shot this.

Colour for sepia. I vibrated the colour (well, used a Vibrancy layer!), toned down a tiny piece of blue sky, but otherwise left this alone.
From the park at Tocadero, I walked up the hill to rue Benjamin Franklin and was intrigued by rue de l'Aboni, which seemed to vanish into nothing at the other end. I explored, and found this shot of the Tower.

Just past la Place de Costa Rica I was attracted by this mysterious entry to Passage des Eaux and thought to myself, "Eaux. Maybe it goes down toward the river." I decided to explore.
I've been playing with subtly toning the black and whites, using a colour balance layer. I like the bit of off-gray it lends to some of the photos.
