The 1717 meters Mount Batur is one of the active volcano in Bali. Because it was in the weekend Jackson and I decided to start our climb in the evening 8 PM to avoid a long line of hikers who used to climbed early in the morning to catch the sunrise.
From the parking area the path weaved a gentle gradient but after a while the path became much steeper and slippery as the volcanic rubble hard to grip onto even in hiking boots. It was a strange feeling starting the climb in the pitch black, not knowing what surrounded us. Around 10:30 we finally reached the top. The wind blows like crazy! In the darkness we survey the spots and decided to go back down to the crater side to set up the tents. Jackson offered me a cup of hot coffee which was just perfect in the middle of the 12° Celcius of thick foggy night (thank you Bro!). Finally, before 6 AM the darkness was being replaced by glistening orange-red and gold rays, bursting from the silhouette of Mount Abang and Mount Agung. Slowly the thick blanket of fog replaced by beautiful views as every second ticked by the light and colour changed, illuminating more of the beautiful surroundings... even more magical than I expected. .

This waterfall is a true wonder and might be the most beautiful in Bali. Walking to the waterfalls takes about less than 30 minutes from the parking lot as I stop alot to took some photos along the way, the steps are big and you will be surrounded lush jungle on the way. Not hit by tourism yet, I was likely to have this place all to myself that morning...
