The "Southern" JNR Yakumo Green 381 Series rounds the iconic curved bridge over the Nishigawa, deep in the mountains north of Niimi. Despite the foggy, rainy weather, a respectable crowd came out to shoot her, and the JNR Limited Express pass over this bridge.

The famed cherry blossoms have peaked in the central Tokyo Metropolitain parks, and many people are out strolling, or participating in Hanami, basically picnicking under the flowering trees. In the distance, a Toden 9000 series tram eases onto the street running bit outside Asukayama Park bound for Minowabashi. The "Sakura Tram Line" definitely earns its name during this time of year.

The twice daily Okayama bound freight trains are a draw for the railfans visiting the Hakubi Line, more so than the 381 Series. On this day, rain and cool temperatures brought some fog to the mountains, but it didn't deter the 5 railfans and JR workers waiting at this sweeping curve.
