R1595. In June, 1964, the Railway Enthusiasts' club of Farnborough ran a brakevan tour around the Forest of Dean using a couple of GWR 0-6-0 Pannier Tanks. It was called 'The Severn Boar' and was so popular that the limited accommodation offered by the brakevans was soon fully booked and a repeat tour was run a couple of weeks later.
As I was unable to get on the first tour I chased it by car taking pictures and was then able to ride on the second tour - a case of getting the best of both worlds!
This is the second tour behind 1658 departing from somewhere but I do not recognize the location. It departed from Gloucester Central, but this doesn't look like Gloucester to me! Can anyone tell me where it is? Well, it is Gloucester Central! See the comments box below.
