1964/06/06 - 01. In June, 1964, the Railway Enthusiasts' club of Farnborough ran a brakevan tour around the Forest of Dean using a couple of GWR 0-6-0 Pannier Tanks. It was called 'The Severn Boar' and so popular that the limited accommodation offered by the brakevans was soon fully booked and a repeat tour was run a couple of weeks later.
As I was unable to get on the first tour I chased it by car taking pictures and was then able to ride on the second tour - a case of having my cake and eating it! This is the first tour about to depart from Gloucester Central behind 1664.
