Murooka san newly designed auto kap rig using a very slow rotating motor and a ricoh with an intervalometer.

I just had a fascinating 3 hours meeting with Murooka san, President of the Japanese Kite Aerial Photography association in Tokyo and I can tell from this exchange that the 2008 KAP symposium in Japan is a MUST to attend. Dates and location should be finalised within a month, but already visitors from France, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, US, China, Japan and…French Polynesia expressed an interest.
Murooka san started KAP in 1975 and has travelled the world with his kites and cameras. Formerly an architect and engineer, he is now retired but very active in designing rigs and kites, testing and fine tuning them in the wind tunnel of a university lab. He has used KAP in many fields : engineering, archaeology, botanic, ornithology, but I find his humanitarian mission in Cambodia where he was asked to KAP fields next to Angkor Watt to locate land mines, the most exceptional one.
He just finished designing a new auto kap rig he developed with some fellow Kapers from China last April in Wayfan and that he uses with a Ricoh GR.
More to come from Japan but from what I heard today, this is certainly an event not to be missed.

Plans of Murroka san auto kap rig that he uses with a Ricoh GR with the intervalometer set on 5 seconds. In one minute the rig makes 2 revolutions. The slow motor comes from China but I don't have all details yet.
