Old Free Church Cemetery
West Long Branch, New Jersey

This cemetery is located on west side of Monmouth Road, just south of Palmer Avenue. William Brinley donated the land in 1791 for a church and a burying ground. The church building was destroyed in 1934, and all that remains are the headstones.

The earliest known grave in the Old Free Church cemetery is that of John Slocum who died in 1791 at the age of 70 years. William Brinley, who owned the mill at Whale Pond Brook and who donated the land for this cemetery, was buried there in 1840 at the age of 90.
