Formerly The Nevill Arms( spelt with an e on the end at some points in its history), Nevill Road,Stoke Newington, London, N16.
Established around 1870 & built in the Italianate style, The Nevill closed at some point in the 1990s & is now in residential use.
The Osterley Road frontage did display a Hackney Council brown plaque which read - “FIRST BOMB OF WORLD WAR ONE – To fall from a Zeppelin on London dropped in the garden of the Nevill Arms public house 30 May 1915”.
This plaque was removed by Hackney council as further evidence revealed the first bomb fell in Alkham Rd on 31 May 1915, but The Nevill did suffer damage from a bomb later that same evening, but not on 30 May as had been believed.
