Caption- Abstract: |
Many of the hydroplanes who competed in the 2010 Syracuse Hydrofest a couple of weeks ago crossed the border from Canada by way of Niagara Falls, 1000 Islands Bridge and Ogdensburg. Considering the distance and economy, I was surprised at all the license plates from Ontario and Quebec. I got a defa vue feeling as instructions to the drivers was given in both French and English remembering all the Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts from the old Montreal Forum. Where my favorite NHL hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens, played to many Stanley Cup championships during the 1960s and 70s. There, the public announcer announced everything in French first before repeating it in English. As today is Canada Day for our neighbor to the North, I salute them and am proud to have many Canadian friends. |
