"The Pathology of Normality" or "The Yellow Arrow" or "Freedom" or "No Game"

● The patients that are healthy. And the healthy, which in reality are the sick. ●

This provocative thesis of Erich Fromm formulated as a result of his decades-long exploration of the so-called normality. His findings have led to him to demand a new "science of humans " and the humanistic value judgments even realizing it.

The already legendary philosopher and psychoanalyst in clear sharp and far-sighted analysis, where the disease of modern society and the individuals are, and he has ways to heal them.


Die Kranken, das sind die Gesunden. Und die Gesunden, das sind in Wirklichkeit die Kranken.

Diese provozierende These formulierte Erich Fromm als Ergebnis seiner jahrzehntelangen Erforschung der sogenannten Normalität. Seine Erkenntnisse haben ihn dazugeführt, eine neue "Wissenschaft vom Menschen" zu fordern und der humanistischen Wertsetzungen selbst auch zu realisieren.

Der schon heute legendäre Philosoph und Psychoanalytiker verdeutlicht in scharfen, weitsichtigen Analysen, wo die Krankheit der modernen Gesellschaft und des einzelnen Menschen liegen, und er weist Wege auf, sie zu heilen.

They claim that the Earth belongs to them. You see brothers, the spring is here. The sun embraces the earth. Soon we will see the children that love. Each seed, each animal is awake. The same power has given birth to us.

Therefore, we also give our fellow men undunseren friends the animals, the same rights as us to live on this earth. But listen brothers. Now we are dealing with a different type. They were few and weak, but now there are many and they are strong and arrogant. It is hard to believe they want to plow the earth.

Greed is their disease. They have made many laws and break the rich the poor, but they may not. They take the money of the poor and weak to support the rich and strong with it. They say, our mother the earth belonged to them and they are fencing off their neighbors, from our mother. They pollute our mother to their buildings and their waste. They force our mother, the wrong time to give birth. And if they will bear no more fruit, they give her medicine to which they give birth to anew.

What they do is not sacred. They are like a river at the time of the flood. In the spring, it breaks its banks and destroys everything in its path ...

Darum gewähren wir auch unseren Mitmenschen und unseren Freunden, den Tieren, die gleichen Rechte wie uns, auf dieser Erde zu leben. Aber hört Brüder. Jetzt haben wir es mit einer anderen Art zu tun. Sie waren wenige und schwach; jetzt aber sind es viele und sie sind stark und überheblich. Es ist kaum zu glauben, sie wollen die Erde umpflügen.

Habgier ist ihre Krankheit. Sie haben viele Gesetze gemacht und die Reichen dürfen sie brechen, die Armen aber nicht. Sie nehmen das Geld der Armen und Schwachen, um die Reichen und Starken damit zu stützen. Sie sagen, unsere Mutter die Erde gehöre ihnen; sie zäunen uns, ihre Nachbarn, von unserer Mutter ab. Sie beschmutzen unsere Mutter mit ihren Gebäuden und ihrem Abfall. Sie zwingen unsere Mutter, zur Unzeit zu gebären. Und wenn sie keine Frucht mehr trägt, geben sie ihr Medizin, auf das sie auf's neue gebären soll.

Was sie tun ist nicht heilig. Sie sind wie ein Fluss zur Zeit des Hochwassers. Im Frühling tritt er über die Ufer und zerstört alles auf seinem Wege...

What Was Said to the Rose
What was said to the rose that made it open
was said to me here in my chest.

What was told the Cypress that made it strong
and straight, what was

whispered the jasmine so it is what it is, whatever made
sugarcane sweet, whatever

was said to the inhabitants of the town of Chigil in
Turkestan that makes them

so handsome, whatever lets the pomegranate flower blush
like a human face, that is

being said to me now. I blush. Whatever put eloquence in
language, that's happening here.

The great warehouse doors open; I fill with gratitude,
chewing a piece of sugarcane,
