It took us a few tries to get to this well-photographed spot in good weather. Luckily for us, the bad weather we had been waiting out had deposited a visible dusting of snow at the tops of the Cuillin Mountains, making the scene more interesting.

As interesting as the scenery is the sad history of the small viallage of Elgol. Prior to the Highland Clearances in two centuries ago, the settlement had a far higher population that its current ~150 people. These days the area is mostly filled with photographers and holiday homes due to it's beautiful scenery and so some of its charm has been lost to time. Since we were visiting in February and during the winter storm season (either side of this three-hour-long clear weather the winds were up to 60mph!) we had the town and its view mostly to ourselves.
