The last day with you is always the hardest. I feel distant, ghostlike somehow, trying to embrace the togetherness before separation takes over. As I write this, you're already most of your way back to Chicago, and I'm 1,700 miles apart in Nova Scotia, dreaming about the short week spent together.
How could it have been nine months since I last saw you? That somehow seems impossible. As the days of school drag by, I think on you, my love, my wife, and know that soon comes the future.

A self portrait from an early morning at one of my favourite locations. This rock was completely covered in black ice and I wondered if I might slip off and die. I didn't, thankfully.
