Zevenaar - Emmerich from West to East.
Western part of Emmerich Station with exit signals in the direction of the Netherlands. Only one track is in use. The exit signal along that track has a counter line indicator, indicating that running on the counter line follows. There is a temporarely speed limit of 120 kms/hr (see also this photo).

Zevenaar - Emmerich from West to East.
Western side of Emmerich Station. Above all tracks the old 1.500 V overhead system is still present but under 15,000 V AC. A freight train from the industrial area of Emmerich waits to get permission to run into the station and to continue its voyage in the direction of Oberhausen. In this stage of conversion the yard of Emmerich Station was not in use and there was only one track on which trains could pass the station. It seemed that there was also only one track in use East of Emmerich in the direction of Oberhausen. Local passenger trains were replaced by buses.

Zevenaar - Emmerich from West to East.
Entrance signals at the Western side of Emmerich Station. In the old situation the overhead system at this point was designed for trains to and from The Netherlands using 1.500 V DC. But 1.500 V DC trains cannot run to Emmerich anymore because of the conversion of the overhead system between Zevenaar and Emmerich to 25.000 V AC and 15.000 V AC systems.
But at this point and in the station area the overhead system seemed not to have been changed although the voltage above all tracks is now 15.000 V AC. By the way, I suppose that above the left track there was no voltage at all because the overhead system on this track was being renewed and converted.

Zevenaar - Emmerich from West to East.
It was not possible to make a photo of the end of the neutral section between the 25.000 V AC and 15.0000 V AC systems. But at 5,6 kilometers from the border on German territory this sign trains warns drivers of trains running in the direction of The Netherlands that another sign mus be awaited that the main switch must be off.
At the time of photographing only the left (southern) track was in use. This track has has been fitted at this point with a new overhead system for 15.000 V AC in the previous monts. On the right track the replacement of the old 1.500 V DC system was in progress. New concrete posts have been placed. At this point only the old wires have been removed.
Because only the left track is in use, the sign was temporarely placed along that track and not along the right track, what usually would be the situation.
