Explore #80 , 10/16/09.

[Update - 11/8/09. Previously posted on 10/15/09 4:59 AM. I've moved this image up to announce some exciting news that we learned at training, this morning. Stella (Marlo's Stella Maris - www.marlosrottweilers.com) won Best of Breed and Best in Specialty Show, at the Rottweiler National Specialty Show, yesterday! Owner-handled by Robert (Cathy is her SAR handler), out of the Bred by Exhibitor class, and this was at her fist show. It doesn't get any better than this! After this, the only way is down for her show career.]

In addition to working search dogs, Cathy and Robert are breeders of top-quality show Rottweilers, so their dogs are all beautiful. They each have certified dogs - Cathy has Roma, an area search dog, and Robert has Cadie (previous National Specialty winner), a trailing dog. Now, Cathy is training Stella to be a trailing dog, and Robert is training Jeter to be an area search dog, so they will each have one area search dog and one trailing dog. You can never be too rich, too thin, or have too many search dogs. ;-)

Stella is in training to be a Trailing Dog and is a top-winning show dog as well.

Stella was the #2 show Rottie in the US for 2010. You can check out her Web page here.

Note to self: When shooting multiple subjects, think about increasing the DOF. It's fine if you blur one or the other, if that's what you intend, but disappointing if you didn't mean to do it and it just came out that way because you're used to making sure the eyes are sharp.

I think this image has a nice 3D effect, but I didn't plan for that, so I hope that I will have learned a lesson from this and some of the other images in this series, and think about that in the future.
