Jan and I went to a concert, last night, at Mission San Juan Capistrano by a Neil Diamond impersonator, with our daughter and son-in-law and two of their friends and we had a blast! At least, I did. A couple of times, I wished that I had my camera with me, until I finally realized that I did have my iPhone with me. Our son-in-law, Dave, was playing around with a plastic water bottle, making designs on the tablecloth which I thought were interesting, so I took a few shots and a couple came out pretty good (for an iPhone.)

San Juan Capistrano is a beautiful mission and the thought of having a Neil Diamond concert inside of it seemed a bit incongruous to me, but I got over that feeling right away, realizing that it was for a good cause, which was maintaining and restoring the mission.

I was reminded of the occasion when my Flickr friend Denise, who lived in Vancouver at the time, but now lives in France, and I shot there together and we also had a great time then. I'm sure she would feel just as surprised to attend a Neil Diamond concert there, but I think she would be just as pleased as I was.

I spent the day, yesterday, with my contact, Denise (DeniseJC), and we had a wonderful time, first at Mission San Juan Capistrano, then later, at The Flower Fields, in Carlsbad, about 30 minutes to the south. We both agreed that the best thing about Flickr is that it provides opportunities to meet and enjoy friendships with others, that we would have otherwise not even known existed.

Here's to you, Denise, and thank you for a great time, yesterday, and also, thank you for being you! And on behalf of all of Southern California, I apologize for not having all the well-needed warmth and sun that you were seeking. You certainly deserved it!
