Unlike the Sweet Peas in my previous shot, I recognized this plant right away, because we used to buy it from local growers and ship it to wholesalers across the nation, back when I had my wholesale flower business. When we started carrying it, it was very popular and we couldn't get enough of it, but after a couple of years, more and more producers started growing it and the market was saturated, which happened often with other species. We occasionally shipped Sweet Peas, too, but they didn't ship well, and some areas had their own local supplies.

Diosma is used as a "filler flower" in arrangements and is an often welcome replacement for Baby's Breath (Gypsophila). I don't know if it still is, since I don't keep up with color trends any more, but back in the day, shades of pink, like lavender, purple, violet, rose, salmon, fuchsia, etc., well all the rage and were often used together and Diosma fit in perfectly. Jan and I still love this color pallet and it is the one we use in our yard. So do a lot of our neighbors.

This has to be the weirdest plant that I've ever seen.

I'm going to attend the Mountain High Workshop in June and want to lighten my backpack as much as possible, while still being prepared for all types of photo ops, for the occasion. With this in mind, I bought a 25mm extension tube, which will allow me to focus closer with my other lenses, so that I can leave my big, heavy macro lens at home. This shot was one of my first attempts with my extension tube, to see if that will work, and although I think I'll need to put my camera on my tripod, which I didn't do here, it looks like it will.

Personally, I think they should consider painting their house a different color. It doesn't seem to blend too well with the other colors in this image.
