Morro Rock, first sighted by Juan Cabrillo in 1542, is one of the Nine Sisters, which are extinct volcanic peaks that run in an almost straight line for 12 miles between Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. It is a protected home for Peregrine Falcons, which were formerly endagered, but are now de-listed. Morro Bay is a lovely, quiet town on the coast between Los Angeles and San Francisco, on the scenic California Highway 1 - the most beautiful stretch of highway in the world, in my opinion.

My wife actually made this capture -- through the window of our van, as we were driving by. Wish the wires weren't in the way! Still, it's a pretty good shot -- for a girl. (I'm kidding, of course. Just wanted to see if you're paying attention.)
I reprocessed this image in the native resolution of my Macbook Pro Retina Display (2880X1800) to make a desktop image for it and uploaded it here in that resolution as an experiment. If you take a look at the Original size and then imagine all those pixels compressed to a 15" screen, you can get an idea of how awesome it looks on my Mac. Looks pretty good here, too, in Fullscreen, but nowhere near as good as on my Mac.
By the way, this isn't an HDR. Just a few layers adjustments, fixes with the Spot Healing brush, and a little work with the Sharpen Tool, in Photoshop CS6.
