Starting a series of portraits of some of the teams in Southwest Search Dogs, the volunteer K9 Search Dog group of which I am a member.

Koda is in training to be an Area Search dog. Area Search dogs work off leash and look for any human in a specific area. Once they find their subject, they come all the way back to the handler and indicate that they have made the find, then they lead the handler back to the subject. Often, they make several back and forth trips, because they are so much faster than the handler.
