Palais de l'Isle -
Situated in the very Heart of the old city , this monument is absolutely the most famous and the most typical
of Annecy . Like a ship it cleaves though the " Thiou's " waters with its strong facades all made of stones .

Armenia : Geghard Monastery - Entrance and parvis of the church of S. Katoghike.-With superior valley of Azat

Italiano : Monastero di Geghard ( o della lancia ) detto anche di Ayrivank ( o monastero rupestre ) .Il suo nome attuale ,come anche il monastero stesso ,è del XIII secolo ,dopo che versioni del III secolo e successive furono molto danneggiate da terremoti .
Quello che noi vediamo si chiama Monastero di Geghard ( o della Lancia ) perché si vuole che vi fosse conservata la Lancia con cui venne trafitto Gesù ,oggi nel tesoro di Etchmiadzin e portata allora dall'Apostolo Taddeo .
La chiesa di S.Katoghike attuale fu edificata nel 1215 con la classica pianta cruciforme e cuspide conica su tamburo circolare .Il gavit fu costruito nel 1225 circa , mentre le cappelle rupestri scavate nella roccia sono della metà del XIII secolo ,quando il complesso fu acquisito dai principi Proshian . All'interno ,in una cella a sinistra dopo l'ingresso del gavit ,è scolpito lo stemma di famiglia : 2 leoni e un'aquila .La prima cella a sinistra dopo l'ingresso nel gavit ospita una sorgente di acqua che avrebbe il potere di mantenere giovani . Il complesso monastico contiene numerose celle monastiche ,Khatchkar e altri edifici di servizio ed è circondato da grotte che lo sovrastano .

Geghard monastery (or spear) also called Ayrivank (or cave monastery)
Its current name as well as the monastery itself is from the 13th century, after previous versions were damaged by earthquakes.
What we see is called the Monastery of Geghard (or of the spear) because we want there to be preserved the spear with which Jesus was pierced, today in the treasure of Etchmiadzin and brought by the apostle Thaddeus.
The church of S.Katoghike current was built in1215 with the classic cruciform plan and conical cusp on a circular drum. The gavit (or Nartece) was built in about 1225, while the rock chapels carved into the rock are from the mid-thirteenth century, when the complex was acquired by Proshian princes. Inside, in a cell on the left after the entrance of the gavit , the family crest is carved: 2 lions and an eagle. The first cell on the left after entering the gavit houses a source of water that would have the power to keep young.
The monastic complex contains numerous monastic cells, khatchkar, and other service buildings and is surrounded by caves that overhang it.
