I bought this bag of coffee after an old friend (from high school days) said it was their go-to coffee. It boasts that it is "the world's strongest coffee". The first thing I noted is that the instructions on the bag call for exactly TWICE the amount of coffee per 6 oz. of water that all other coffees recommend -- if I made my other coffees with that much, they'd be incredibly "strong" too. But I tried my first batch at the normal amount (one heaping tablespoon per 6 oz. of water), just in case. The taste was still massively strong -- and by "strong" I mean bitter and dark (despite this bag saying "medium" roast). I could never have imbibed it at the instructed mixing ratio. Also, despite the very strong, bitter taste, it did not seem to have any more caffeine than any other coffee I've tried (and I drink coffee for the caffeine, not the taste). So for me, it's a "no". Summary: the "medium roast" is very, very dark and bitter compared to other coffees, the taste was not at all to my liking, and the caffeine content wasn't impressive. |
