Go on, zoom in, I dare ya! Get real close, check out the nightmare!!
There is a bridge right down from where I live over the canal linking Kaiserin-Augusta-Allee and I believe Helmholtzstrasse, in the metal framework of the bridge are dozens of Orb Weaver Spiders and some of them are pretty big. Thus made this great for a Macro shot.
This is the first creature night time shot I've ever done and I was pleased with the results. Next time I think I will increase my Aperture further and/or maybe use the tripod as this was hand held. The disadvantage was so many people wondering what I was doing photographing spiders.

On one of my walkabouts last night and I happened upon this small industrial area by a large river. There upon the river side was this small brick building with external strobe lighting and underneath this was teeming with Bridge Spiders.
Some were pretty big and so I got this one at a very good angle, looking quite defensive and menacing. They have such beautiful markings but I guess that's great from my perspective; I am not the fly.

OK going completely in another direction here, but another one for the Spider collection. I was on a walkabout a couple of nights ago in the early hours (my favourite time) and happened again across some industrial lights, now, these lights were very powerful which gave my photos an odd ghostly glow.
I cropped this deliberately as the abdomen was a little out of focus (such is the limitations of a basic kit lens) but I got the eyes and thorax in good quality, so much so with the Volvo sign behind it gave this such a law enforcement feel I couldn't resist it.

I know, I know, another of the Orb Weaver family of Spiders, however, I was playing around with the Auto Focus and tried, both Macro and Portrait in a Dynamic setting, which for me I think produced the best result so far.
I never actually realised just how hairy these little guys are. But yes and more to the point, it looks like it's eating a lobster, so rest in peace whatever the hell that was in life!

I am really happy with this one, luckily the rain that evening didn't send them running for cover. This was done under a strobe light in the same location of my previous image. So thankfully I could lean against the wall for support and get in as close as possible.
The Orb Weaver Bridge Spider in this case was facing downwards and was surprisingly unperturbed by my presence, most would scamper but this one was a bit more gutsy, or else simply didn't give a damn.
