One more aurora picture, but this on was graced with a faint meteor. this was the scene upon arrival to the blue mountain on Feb 8, before the alignment with the magnetic field changed and the particles started dancing

It all started as a ribbon. the rest ...well, look in my photo stream. The lens is a NON-CPU old Nikkor 24mm f2.8, manually focused to infinity

As our short trip is coming to a close, a few more images from Friday will be added. The Aurora, product of electrons ejected fro the sun joining oxygen or nitrogen and than leaving producing green color (Oxygen) or pink (nitrogen), is unpredictable. We lucked out with clear sky and electrons aligning with the magnetic field at different angles, producing streams and curtness and swirls. The brightness depends on the numbers of particles leaving the sun, which are low at the moment. All that and more learned last night from a terrific guide, an astronomer from Cambridge.
