Connecting corridor inside an abandoned high school. The school was built in the early 1950's & in a few short years under went major renovations to accommodate a larger student base from a wider area eliminating the need for two nearby & much smaller high schools. This corridor connects to one of the additions & at the end you could find several class rooms on either side & then a large two story library. At its peak, the high school could accommodate over 2,000 students!
By the mid 2000's discussions were underway for building a brand new school due to the original school aging & concerns of asbestos & construction began on the new facility in 2010. The new school opened a year later however was not entirely finished & students still used the old school's facilities such as track meets & home soccer matches.
The new & much smaller school still is missing some of the essentials for track & field & when opened, many things were still missing or crudely built. A fund raiser was held to so they could building bleachers & auditorium seats! Meanwhile the old abandoned school is packed with desks, books, & so much more. The amount of waste is quite surprising.
Exploring is the mission, not a competition!
