The tiny village of Duntisbourne Rouse is one of a handful of settlements in the area named after a Saxon chief called Dunt. The ancient church of St Michael is located on a hillside overlooking the valley of the river Dunt. The nave dates from the 11th century, the chancel from the 12th century, and the crypt and tower from the early 15th century.
