This massive tree known as His Majesty can be found on the Fredville Park Estate in the village of Nonington between Dover and Canterbury. Many regard it as the most impressive of all British Oaks with an enormous trunk circumference of 12.3 meters (40 feet) and a height of 18 meters (60 feet) . It is believed to be between 600 and 800 years old, but some people think that it is at least 1000 years old. Not long before I took this photo, a large splayed branch snapped off the truck and now rests on the ground. The tree itself is hollow, but very much alive.
