Singsing Dungkar Gon is one of the largest monasteries in the Sertal county, with 300-400 monks ( it once had over 1000 monks ). The complex is well situated on a hilltop, overlooking Gogentang to the south. Below the monastery at the base of the hill there is a nine-storey tower and a Mani Lhakang, alongside the drapery of soaring prayer flags, some round and others rectangular. The steep ascent leads to a plateau dominated by a newly built Tashi Gomang-style stupa, dedicated to the Eight Medicine Buddhas. There are two main buildings here: the large assembly hall and a more impressive Zangdok Pelri Lhakang, which was reconstructed in 1998. The former has a large central image of Padmasambhava, with Repkong murals depicting the Hundred Peaceful and Wrathful deities (left), and Vajrakila, Kurukulla and the 21 Taras (right). The images of the Zangdok Pelri Lhakhang are all sculpted by Chamdo artisans and the frescoes painted by Repkong artists. There is also a large photograph of Lama Chokyi Gyatso, who currently presides over the monastery. Other buildings in this impressively large complex include a protector chapel, a hall where dance costumes and masks are stored, a monastic college and a meditation hermitage.
