Encounter between two bear groups on Chilko River. The bear with the three small cubs thought she could push the single two year old bear off the river. But then the mother and sibling showed up, so they had to retreat. (The barb wire on the beach was put there to collect fur for DNA sampling. )

This magpie was hanging around looking for scraps. I thought the combination of the strong wind and ice might make it the second course.

I watched this pair for about 20 minutes. The larger one (female?) ate what I assumed to be some sort of waterfowl for about 15 minutes. The other stood by. When it was done, they squealed at each other and the larger one moved out of the way. Filmed with Olympus OM-D E-MI Mk ll and Swarovski Scope set at 60 x (3000mm equivalent)
