Crex egregia. Only saw this one for a few seconds. It was crossing the road ahead of a road block.

Gallinula chloropus from Europe is closely related to Gallinula galeata, Comnon Gallinule from the Americas. They were split into seperate species in 2011.

Rallus aquaticus lives in Europe, Asia and North Africa. Seen here in the Ebro Delta Spain. Like all rails, these are secretive birds. I was fortunate one morning to be by myself on a platform overlooking some wetlands. The rail was unaware of my presence and stayed out in the open for several minutes. This was my last week in Spain and previously I only had shots of it hidden in the reeds.

Laterallus albigularis is much smaller than the other rails that I have posted. It is 6.5" long, which is smaller than the North American Yellow rail (7.25") and related to the Black Rail of the southern US. we were very lucky to see a whole family when in Gamboa , Panama.
