Again, exploring my camera's other capabilities so that I can be more prepared for another great year! Crows may be very widespread and just as annoying as the Magpies, but they can be difficult to expose. I've been practicing with manual mode and playing with other functions in the camera, and I've been quite happy with the results so far. Thanks to Rob for convincing me to shoot manual instead of partial auto settings (like Av and Tv modes). Now I just need to practice switching my settings on the spot quickly.

7D | 300/2.8L + 2x | 1/320 sec., f/7.1, ISO 1250; handheld.

As you can tell, light was fading. It didn't help when this Blue Jay was on the ground in the shade. Had to slow down the shutterspeed and crank up the ISO.

I've included one more portrait shot in the first comment box below.

Enjoy!
